Assessment of the cosmeceutical potential of ingredients sourced from marine bioresources

Consumer behaviour is increasingly moving towards the use of natural, eco-responsible cosmeceuticals. Companies are responding to this market by clearly focusing their development efforts on bringing to market products formulated with natural ingredients sourced from renewable resources. For these manufacturers, marine bioresources represent valuable innovation capital that is attracting growing interest.

In light of this, the CRBM has carried out a project to evaluate the cosmeceutical potential of various extracts from selected marine bioresources, with a view to developing them for this market. More specifically, this project looked into the prevention of skin aging, particularly that caused by repeat damage due to exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays.

This resulted in the development of potential new active ingredients to prevent photoaging. More broadly, the project has also supported the development of our bioactivity screening platforms, which are now available to our customers to support product development in the cosmeceutical, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical sectors.
